Choosing an assisted living facility for a parent is one of the hardest decisions a family will make. It arrives suddenly after a fall, a diagnosis, or a quiet moment when you realise your parent can no longer safely manage alone. And then you’re searching at midnight, not sure what to look for or who to trust.
This guide exists because that search shouldn’t be harder than it already is.

What is assisted living – really?
Assisted living is residential care for seniors who need help with daily tasks such as bathing, dressing, medication, mobility, but are medically stable and don’t require the intensive clinical environment of a hospital or nursing home.
In India, the terminology is inconsistent and often confusing. Here is how the categories actually work.
Assisted living is the middle ground: professional care in a residential setting, with your parent retaining a meaningful degree of independence and social life. The best facilities feel less like institutions and more like well-run communities.
Old age home is the legacy category, historically charitable, minimal clinical staff, basic shelter and meals. Many still operate this way. A growing number are upgrading to assisted living standards while keeping the old name. Ask about staffing before assuming.
Memory care is specialised assisted living for seniors with Alzheimer’s, dementia, or other cognitive conditions. It requires higher staff-to-resident ratios, secured environments, and structured cognitive programming. Several facilities in this guide offer memory care within their assisted living campus. For a parent whose primary need is memory care, also see our Bangalore memory care guide
Nursing home / skilled nursing is for medically complex patients requiring continuous clinical intervention – post-ICU, ventilator-dependent, managing multiple acute conditions. This is a different category from assisted living, and the facilities are different.
Independent living is for seniors who are healthy and self-sufficient but want the convenience and community of a managed residential campus. No personal care is provided; it’s a lifestyle choice, not a care choice.
Signs It’s time to consider assisted living
Families almost always wait longer than they should. The moment you’re reading this article is probably not the first time the thought has occurred to you.
The signs that make this conversation urgent:
- One or more falls at home in the past year
- Medication management has become unreliable – doses missed, wrong tablets taken
- Your parent is eating poorly, losing weight, or not hydrating adequately
- They are increasingly isolated – not leaving the house, withdrawing from social contact
- A progressive diagnosis has been made: dementia, Parkinson’s, COPD, heart failure
- You or another family member is the primary caregiver, and it is affecting your health, your work, or your marriage
- Your parent lives alone and you are not physically present in Bangalore
Assisted living is not abandonment. The families who have made this transition consistently report that their parent’s quality of life improves – structured routines, peer community, professional medical attention, and purposeful daily programming replace the isolation and safety risk of living alone.
The earlier the decision is made, the better the transition. Seniors who move while still relatively healthy adapt faster, make friends more easily, and settle in before a crisis forces the decision.
What we learned from evaluating 25+ Bangalore facilities
After researching every assisted living facility we could identify across Bangalore, these are the patterns that emerged. This is not available anywhere else – it comes from the breadth of Zenioro’s evaluation process.
Staffing is the most variable and least transparent factor. Almost every facility claims “24/7 nursing care.” In practice, this means very different things. Some facilities have qualified nurses on-site through the night; others have nursing attendants, not qualified nurses, on night duty with a nurse available by phone. This distinction matters enormously for a senior with cardiac, neurological, or complex medical needs. Always ask: “Is a qualified nurse physically on the premises between 10pm and 6am, every night?”
Pricing almost never stays at the ‘starting from’ figure. The advertised base price typically covers a shared room with standard assisted living support. Most families end up paying 30–60% more once they account for a private room, physiotherapy sessions, specialist consultations, incontinence supplies, and care escalation when needs increase. The facilities that are most transparent about this upfront are the ones worth trusting.
Only a minority of facilities have genuine dementia care capability. Caring for a resident with dementia requires specific staff training, a secured environment, and structured cognitive programming, not just a willingness to admit dementia patients. Of the 25+ facilities we evaluated in Bangalore, fewer than one-third meet what we would consider a meaningful standard for dementia care. If you’re assessing options, this Dementia Care Guide Bengaluru can help you understand what to look for.
Review scores are meaningful, but review volume matters more. A facility with a 4.9 from 12 reviews is not necessarily better than one with 4.6 from 821 reviews. Volume of reviews reflects years of consistent operation at scale. Be more cautious about high scores from very small review bases.
Provider scale is a meaningful proxy for operational maturity. A company managing 8-12 facilities across multiple cities has invested in training systems, clinical protocols, quality oversight, and management infrastructure that a single-location operator simply cannot replicate. When you’re evaluating trust, look not just at the facility in front of you but at the organisation behind it.
Location relative to family matters as much as care quality. A technically excellent facility that family can only visit once a month is worse for your parent than a good-but-not-perfect facility that family can reach every weekend. Resident wellbeing is directly tied to frequency of family contact.
The best indicator of a facility’s culture is how staff treat residents when they think no one is watching. Visit unannounced if you can, or arrive early for a scheduled tour. Watch how a caregiver interacts with a resident in the hallway who isn’t your parent and isn’t the reason for your visit.

1. Athulya Assisted Living – Kasavanahalli
The most operationally reliable assisted living facility in Bangalore today.

About the provider: Athulya is India’s largest assisted living provider, founded in 2016 and now operating 12 facilities across 5 cities — Bangalore, Chennai, Kochi, Coimbatore, and Hyderabad with over 1,500 beds and a team of 1,000+ care professionals. That scale means Athulya has invested in clinical governance, training systems, and quality protocols that single-location operators cannot match. When you place a parent at an Athulya facility, you’re backing a company that has managed over 35,000 seniors.
The Kasavanahalli property is their most established Bangalore facility. With 161 Google reviews averaging 4.7 – the deepest review base of any assisted living facility in the city – this is not a facility making promises. It’s one with a track record.
The campus is purpose-built for senior care at scale: anti-slip flooring throughout, grab rails on every corridor, emergency call buttons in all rooms, a nursing station staffed around the clock, and an in-house physiotherapy and rehabilitation team. Care types span assisted living, transition care, palliative care, rehabilitation, and memory care – meaning a parent placed here doesn’t need to move as needs evolve.
The activities programming is genuine: yoga, art therapy, music therapy, walking clubs, religious lectures, specialist health talks. These are structured and recurring, and the review pattern confirms residents participate.

2. Geri Care Assisted Living – Ulsoor
The best combination of clinical quality and accessible pricing on this list.
About the provider: Geri Care is a Bangalore-based specialist geriatric care provider. The Ulsoor facility, opened in 2025, is their flagship property in Central Bangalore, built specifically around geriatric medicine as a specialism. While Geri Care does not yet have the multi-city scale of Athulya, the clinical model is founded by and staffed with geriatric specialists – a depth of expertise that matters more than network size for a family prioritising medical quality.
A 5.0 rating from 24 reviews is a strong early signal. The consistent theme across reviews: the clinical team is expert, and the caregiving staff are warm without being institutional.
| Provider | Geri Care — Bangalore-based geriatric specialist, Ulsoor flagship |
| Care types | Assisted living, skilled nursing, memory care, 24/7 geriatric care |
| Medical | In-house geriatricians, specialist nursing, daily health supervision |
| Location | Ulsoor, Central Bangalore |
| Reviews | 5.0/5 [44 reviews] |
| Price | From ₹105,000/month |
Best for: Families where clinical quality is the priority. Parents with complex age-related conditions that benefit from geriatric specialism. Families in or near Central Bangalore.
3. Feel at Home Luxury Assisted Living – Annapoorna
The strongest specialist care for dementia and Parkinson’s in West Bangalore. The most flexible on stay type.

About the provider: Feel at Home is a Bangalore-based operator with two assisted living properties in the city: Annapoorna in Lingadeeranahalli and Kamala in Banashankari. The consistent 4.9 ratings across both properties, accumulated over dozens of reviews at each, suggest a care model that is genuinely replicable across locations rather than dependent on a single facility or manager.
Two things make Annapoorna stand out.
First, the specialist depth for neurological conditions: dementia, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, and stroke care are core competencies here, not add-ons.
Second, the flexibility of stay type: Feel at Home explicitly offers assisted living, day care, and short-term care – rare in this market.
| Provider | Feel at Home – 2 facilities in Bangalore |
| Care types | Assisted living, day care, short-term care, Parkinson’s, dementia, Alzheimer’s, stroke, post-operative, feeding tube care |
| Medical | Health checks, medication management, physiotherapy, ambulance access |
| Emergency | Immediate emergency care, ambulance |
| Rooms | AC, TV, newspapers and magazines |
| Community | Library, activity space, terrace lawn |

| Location | Lingadeeranahalli, West Bangalore |
| Reviews | 4.9/5 [62 reviews] |
| Price | From ₹41,500/month |
Best for: Parents with dementia, Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, or stroke. Families who want short-term or day care before committing to permanent placement. Budget under ₹50,000/month with specialist care needs.
4. Feel at Home Luxury Assisted Living – Kamala
The same specialist care model as Annapoorna, in South Bangalore.
About the provider: Same Feel at Home organisation, 2 Bangalore facilities. The Kamala property in Banashankari brings the full Feel at Home care framework to South Bangalore. The care plans, clinical capabilities, and service model are equivalent to Annapoorna.
The deciding factor between the two properties is geography: for families in JP Nagar, Banashankari, Jayanagar, or along the Kanakapura Road corridor, Kamala eliminates the need to cross the city for visits. That matters more than it might seem over months and years.

| Rooms | AC, TV, newspapers and magazines |

5. KITES Senior Care – HBR Layout
The strongest clinical option for North Bangalore families.
About the provider: KITES (founded 2016) is a geriatric care specialist backed by Ranjan Pai’s Manipal Education and Medical Group family office – one of India’s most credible healthcare investors. KITES operates 5+ facilities with 340+ beds across Bangalore (3 locations), Hyderabad, Chennai, and Coimbatore, and has cared for over 6,000 seniors. The Manipal backing and multi-city operational track record give KITES a meaningfully stronger institutional foundation than most mid-market providers.
North Bangalore – HBR Layout, Yelahanka, Hebbal, RT Nagar, Thanisandra is underserved by the premium assisted living options that cluster in Whitefield and South Bangalore. KITES fills this gap with a nursing-led care model consistently validated in reviews.
| Provider | KITES Senior Care — 5+ facilities, 340+ beds, 3 cities; Manipal Group-backed |
| Care types | Assisted living, nursing care, dementia care, rehabilitation |
| Location | HBR Layout, North Bangalore (also in Vajarahalli and Geddalahalli) |
| Reviews | 4.7/5 [313 reviews] |
| Price | From ₹69,000/month |
Best for: Families based in North Bangalore. Parents with ongoing medical needs requiring close nursing supervision. Families who want clinical rigour with institutional backing at a mid-range price.
6. Antara Care Homes – Bannerghatta Road
A premium, institutionally backed brand. The only NABH-accredited assisted living provider on this list.

About the provider: Antara is the senior-care business of Max India Limited, part of the $7-billion Max Group – one of the most credible institutional names in Indian healthcare. Founded in 2013, Antara now operates 8 facilities with 485+ beds across Delhi-NCR (Gurugram, Noida), Bangalore, and Chennai. Critically, Antara’s Gurugram facility is India’s first NABH-accredited assisted living care home – the country’s highest healthcare quality certification — and all facilities are being brought under the NABH framework. That accreditation is a meaningful differentiator that no other facility on this list can claim.
The Bannerghatta Road property offers independent living, assisted living, and memory care under one roof making it suitable for couples where one partner needs assisted living and another is independent, or for families planning ahead for evolving needs. The care model includes dietitian-planned seven meals per day and cashless insurance coverage for transition care through TPA – one of very few providers in India offering this.

| Care types | Independent living, assisted living, memory care, post-operative, transition care |

| Price | From ₹1,20,000/month |
Best for: Families who value institutional credibility, NABH accreditation, and Max Group backing. Couples with different care levels who want one campus. Families planning for long-term care continuity from independent to assisted to memory care.
7. Sukino – Manyata Hebbal
Purpose-built step-down care. Right for post-surgical recovery in North Bangalore.
About the provider: Sukino operates as part of the broader HCAH network — the same organisation behind HCAH SuVitas Domlur, with national scale, Dabur-family backing, and standardised clinical protocols across facilities. This provider-level institutional infrastructure gives Sukino a quality baseline that standalone rehab centres cannot guarantee.
Sukino is purpose-built for the transition moment: structured rehabilitation for seniors being discharged from hospital who are not yet ready for standard assisted living. If your parent has had major surgery, a stroke, or a serious orthopaedic procedure and you’re based near Manyata, Hebbal, or Yelahanka, Sukino is purpose-built for this gap.

| Location | Manyata Hebbal, Thanisandra, North Bangalore |

Best for: Parents needing post-hospitalisation step-down care in North Bangalore. Families planning a later transition to long-term assisted living who want a structured recovery bridge first.
Other notable facilities:
Athulya Assisted Living – Whitefield
The right choice for East Bangalore families and post-surgical recovery.

About the provider: Same Athulya organisation – 12 facilities, 1,500+ beds, 5 cities. The provider scale that applies to Kasavanahalli applies equally here: the training protocols, clinical governance, and quality standards are consistent across the Athulya network.
The Whitefield property runs the same clinical framework as Kasavanahalli with a specific strength in post-operative and transition care.
If your parent is being discharged from a hospital in the Whitefield-ITPL corridor – Columbia Asia, Manipal and needs structured recovery before returning home or transitioning to long-term assisted living, this is the most logical placement in East Bangalore.
The review base is still building, so there is less historical data than Kasavanahalli – but the clinical model and physical infrastructure are equivalent.

Assisted living by area of Bangalore
The right facility is not just about care quality, it’s about where your family can visit consistently. Visits improve resident wellbeing measurably. Don’t compromise geography unless you genuinely have no choice. If you’re evaluating options across areas, this Zenioro Assisted Living Guide Bengaluru breaks down how facilities compare across different parts of the city.
Central Bangalore (Domlur, Ulsoor, Indiranagar) The most accessible area for families spread across the city. Geri Care Ulsoor covers this corridor.
East Bangalore (Whitefield, Kasavanahalli, ITPL corridor) Athulya operates two facilities here Whitefield and Kasavanahalli are 15–20 minutes apart. Aarra Care Homes adds a mid-range option in Whitefield. This is the area with the highest density of premium assisted living in Bangalore.
South Bangalore (Banashankari, JP Nagar, Hulimavu, Bannerghatta Road) Feel at Home Kamala and Antara Care Homes cover this corridor. If your family is in South Bangalore, these are the natural starting points before considering cross-city options.

West Bangalore (Lingadeeranahalli, Rajajinagar) Feel at Home Annapoorna is the primary option here and a strong one for specialist neurological care.

Cost of assisted living in Bangalore
What to realistically expect
Accessible range: ₹20,000–₹40,000/month
Nethu Priyaa Home (from ₹23,000) and Priaashraya Anandam (from ₹30,000) operate here. This segment typically covers basic assisted living with limited clinical oversight, suitable for seniors who need help with daily activities but not continuous medical supervision.
Mid range: ₹40,000–₹75,000/month
Aarra Care Homes (₹64,000), Feel at Home (₹41,500+) and KITES (₹69,000+) fall in this bracket. This is the most competitive part of the Bangalore market, offering a balance of structured care, trained staff, and community living. For most families, this is where quality and affordability meet.
Premium & specialised care: ₹75,000–₹2,10,000+/month
Athulya (₹75,000+), Antara (₹1,20,000+), Geri Care (₹90,000–₹1,95,000 depending on care ratio), and Sukino (₹2,10,000) sit in this tier. Expect stronger clinical oversight, higher caregiver ratios, and more robust infrastructure. As care needs increase, especially for conditions requiring rehabilitation or 1:1 support – costs rise sharply within this segment.
What is almost always included in the base price
- Accommodation (shared or private room – confirm which)
- Three meals per day

Questions to ask when you visit
Visit in person before making any decision. If possible, arrive at mealtime. Speak with caregiving staff, not just the admissions team. Watch how staff interact with residents who aren’t the focus of your visit.
On care:
- What is the nurse-to-resident ratio, day and night?
- Is a qualified nurse physically on-site 24 hours a day, every day?
- How do you handle a resident whose care needs increase significantly?
- How is medication managed — dispensing, tracking, refills?
- What is your protocol if my parent needs emergency hospitalisation?
On day-to-day life:
- Can I see a sample weekly activity schedule?
- What does a typical day look like for a resident here?
- Can my parent personalise their room?
- Are there restrictions on visiting hours or unannounced visits?
- Can my parent go out – to a temple, a family function, a doctor’s appointment?
On contracts and costs:
- What exactly is in the base monthly fee? What is charged separately?
- If my parent’s care needs increase, what does the next level cost?
- What is the notice period to exit?
- How is the security deposit refunded, and under what conditions?
- Has pricing increased in the past two years, and by how much?
What to observe:
- Do staff acknowledge residents by name in passing?
- Are existing residents engaged and interacting, or sitting passively?
- Does the facility smell clean?
- How does management respond when you ask a difficult or probing question?

Managing this from outside Bangalore (NRI guide)
A significant portion of families making assisted living decisions for a parent in Bangalore are doing so from the US, UK, Singapore, the Gulf, or another Indian city. This is one of the most common situations Zenioro encounters, and it has a practical process.
Step 1: Shortlist remotely. Use this guide to narrow to 2–3 facilities based on care needs, location relative to your local contact in Bangalore, and budget.
Step 2: Request a video tour. Every facility on this list is experienced with NRI families and will accommodate a WhatsApp or Zoom tour. Ask to see the room, dining area, common spaces, and nursing station.
Step 3: Arrange a local visit. A trusted friend, family member, or hired local advisor should visit in person — ideally at mealtime. Their instinctive read of the environment matters as much as any checklist.
Step 4: Request a medical assessment. Send your parent’s recent medical records to shortlisted facilities. Ask how they would structure care for your parent’s specific conditions. The quality of the response tells you something.
Step 5: Manage the admission. Most facilities can complete paperwork with scanned documents, a local point of contact, and digital signatures. Confirm this process with each facility in advance.
One thing NRI families often underestimate: once your parent is placed, regular video calls with your parent and with facility management are worth scheduling formally, not leaving to chance. The facilities on this list are experienced with this and will cooperate.
If you need help shortlisting or navigating this process from abroad, contact Zenioro directly
Our final recommendation
If you’re still uncertain after reading this guide, here is the clearest possible summary:
If you want the safest, most operationally proven choice: Athulya Kasavanahalli. The track record, clinical depth, provider scale, and infrastructure to handle what comes next are unmatched in Bangalore.
If your parent needs post-surgical or stroke recovery care: Sukino Manyata Hebbal for North Bangalore is built for this moment.
If your parent has dementia, Alzheimer’s, or Parkinson’s: Feel at Home Annapoorna (West Bangalore) or Kamala (South Bangalore). The specialist depth at this price range is the best on this list.
If clinical quality per rupee is your priority: Geri Care Ulsoor. Geriatric specialism at ₹1,05,000/month is the strongest value proposition on this list.
If your parent is active and you want community living: Aarra Care Homes. The amenity range and room options are the best in the mid-range.
If you want institutional credibility and accreditation: Antara Care Homes. The Max Group backing and NABH accreditation are genuine differentiators – and are not something any other facility on this list can currently match.
If your family is in North Bangalore: KITES Senior Care HBR Layout for long-term care; Sukino for step-down recovery.
The right facility is the one where your parent will be genuinely cared for — clinically and humanly — and where you can visit often enough to stay connected. Make your shortlist, visit in person, and trust what you observe.

Frequently asked questions
What is the average cost of assisted living in Bangalore? Assisted living in Bangalore starts at approximately ₹23,000/month for basic care and reaches ₹2,10,000+/month for premium facilities. A well-staffed facility with good amenities and proper nursing typically costs ₹35,000–₹55,000/month. Budget carefully for extras — medications, physiotherapy, and care escalation are almost always charged separately.
How is assisted living different from an old age home in Bangalore? Old age homes have historically offered basic shelter and meals with minimal clinical staffing. Modern assisted living facilities are professionally managed, with trained nursing staff, structured care plans, medical supervision, and purpose-built physical infrastructure. The terminology overlaps in India — always ask about the staffing model and clinical protocols directly, regardless of what the facility calls itself.
Can my parent get memory care at an assisted living facility in Bangalore? Yes, but not at every facility. Athulya (both locations), Feel at Home (both locations), Antara, and KITES offer memory care capabilities within their assisted living framework. For advanced dementia, a dedicated memory care wing with secured access and specialist-trained staff is preferable to a general assisted living placement. See our Bangalore memory care guide
Which areas of Bangalore have the best assisted living options? East Bangalore (Whitefield, Kasavanahalli) has the highest concentration of premium options. Central Bangalore (Domlur, Ulsoor) has the most accessible locations. South Bangalore (Banashankari, Bannerghatta Road) has strong mid-range options. North Bangalore is underserved but KITES and Sukino fill the gap.
Does provider scale matter when choosing a facility? Yes, meaningfully. A provider managing 8–12 facilities across multiple cities has invested in training systems, clinical protocols, and quality oversight that single-location operators cannot replicate. Athulya (12 facilities), and Antara (8 facilities, NABH accredited) both carry institutional infrastructure that adds a layer of assurance beyond what any individual facility can offer on its own.
How long does admission take? Most facilities can complete admission within 48–72 hours for straightforward cases. For medically complex residents, facilities will request records and may conduct an assessment first. Budget one to two weeks for the full process from initial enquiry.
Can my parent try assisted living short-term before committing? Yes — Feel at Home (both Annapoorna and Kamala) explicitly offer short-term and day care. Several other facilities will accommodate a trial of 1–3 months even if it isn’t advertised. Always ask directly.
Is assisted living in Bangalore regulated? India does not yet have a comprehensive national regulatory framework specifically for assisted living. The sector operates under general healthcare regulations. You cannot rely on regulatory accreditation the way you might in Western countries — except in the case of Antara, whose facilities are NABH accredited. Zenioro’s independent evaluation exists to provide the accountability layer that regulation doesn’t yet consistently provide.
I live abroad. How do I manage this from outside India? See the NRI section of this guide for a step-by-step process. Most facilities on this list are experienced with NRI families and can accommodate video tours, remote shortlisting, and digital admission processes.
What should I look for when visiting a facility? The single most important thing is how staff treat residents who aren’t the focus of your visit. Do they acknowledge them? Do they know their names? Do they interact with warmth? The answer tells you more than any brochure.
